In October of 2005, I began to have a painful tail. I walked up to mom one evening, with a funny stiff walk, and cried to her.
She patted me and said "What is it bendikins? what hurts? Oh, look at how you are walking, let me see."
She pressed very gently on my hips and legs and found where I hurt. "Poor little Bendy, let's make you comfy until you can get to the vet!"
She gave me some asprin (I have been on it before) and that made me feel much better. The next day the vet could not find anything obviously wrong, just a tender spot. She said to continue the asprin until I felt better.
I was started on Metacam and Cosequin. In just a few days I was feeling better, in a week I was my old self again! I am very good about taking my meds, I try to convince mom I don't need them but I get them anyway. I have tried waving my belly to look too cute to medicate, falling over and pretending to be dead, purring as loudly as possible, and being extra snuggly. Despite these efforts, I still get my pills.
There is a chance that down the road I will have nerve involvment, maybe causing my back legs to not work correctly or even incontinence. But all this is old hat around here, mom will do whatever she needs to to take care of sweet, cute little me.
